What is this vibration thing?

My first exposure to vibrations and the importance of raising your vibration came when I began with my study of the Law of Attraction. Initially, this vibration stuff seemed so woo-hoo really wanted to dismiss the whole idea of a spiritual vibration.

Then I watched a YouTube video that took the woo-hoo-er-y out of it for me by tying the concept of vibration to a heartbeat, the blood pumping through your veins, the food digesting in our stomachs. 

I would like you to consider that we live in a vibrational universe; you are a vibrational being, whose cells and organs all pulsate at a particular frequency. Our brain pulsates with electromagnetic energy, affected by our emotions, our health, and our general state of well-being. Our body contracts and pulses at various rates, including your heartbeat, your stomach contracting and the very act of breathing. Together, they make up you, a composite of frequencies, and so we each vibrate to our own personal tune.

After hearing Joanna McEwen explaining a Vibrational Universe in her TEDx talk, the hokeyness dissipated for me.  If you are in any way a skeptic, hopefully this explanation resonates with you as well.

Once I heard that I vibrate to my “own personal tune,” I knew that I wanted to learn more.   

How do you have a high vibration?

Now that we have discussed the physical attributes of this vibration thing, what about the high vibrational energy or the spiritual vibration?

A spiritual vibration is all about feelings and emotions.

How does your vibration work with the Law of Attraction?

First off, let’s briefly cover the magnificent power of the Law of Attraction. 

The Law of Attraction is simple:  You become what you believe

Yep, it goes back to that timeless childhood story of The Little Engine That Could and the power of the words “I think I can!”  The Law of Attraction is that principle that states if you believe something can happen, it will happen.  If you do not believe something is possible, it is not possible.

It is that uplifting feeling in your gut.  It is faith!

Since the Law of Attraction is you become what you believe, then being uplifting with a high vibration is critical for good things to come your way.  To expand on that thought a bit, if your vibration is low and negative, good things will not present themselves to you.

What does raise your vibration mean?

My idea of having a high vibration is simple:  being in a freaking good mood with an excitement for life.  You have a clear vision of where you want to be in life and the energy to get you to that destination.

Your goal is to remain positive when faced with adversity, you are attracted to uplifting people and uplifting people are attracted to you, and life is full of hope.

When you raise your vibration or frequency, you:

How can I increase my vibration instantly?  Great question!  We are going to cover the best ways to raise your vibration and raise your vibration fast!  The action items below address your mind, body, and spirit to raise your vibration.

1. Smile and Laugh Out Loud

Here at I Love Your Laugh, we believe in the healing power of laughter.  We know that during the darkest times, the biggest disagreements, the gloomiest days, a laugh makes all of the negative falls to the wayside.

Tell a joke, seek a joke, watch a funny movie or show.  Whatever it takes to crack a smile, you just gotta do it!

2. Choose Your Words Carefully

Talk to yourself with love.  Self-talk is so important.  If you tell yourself you can do something, then you can.  If you tell yourself, you can’t do something, and then you can’t do it.

Be observant of how you talk to yourself.  Self-deprecating humor is not funny.  It isn’t funny to you, and it isn’t funny to those around you.

Don’t be that person that puts an awkward vibe out in the air by bashing yourself.  Be nice to you!  You deserve it!

3. Express Gratitude

Gratitude heals everything.  When expressing gratitude, it a warm and fuzzy feeling consumes us, and any anger or frustration naturally goes away. 

When you are in a low vibe state, start focusing on all the wonders the Universe has afforded you.  Think of the ones you love the most and all the wonder that you have added to their lives and the magnificence they have added to yours.

4. Let Go of Grudges

Grudges eat the soul.  A grudge holds you in the past, and in turn, you miss out on today.  Do not let a useless grudge rob you of one more day.

Let go.  Letting go of the past is the only way that you will be able to change your future.

5. Inhale Deeply and Exhale

Breathe.  Take in the oxygen with all you have and release it slowly.  Breathing deeply is the best way to handle stress, formulate a game plan, and move forward.

Don’t forget to do it.

Come up with a way that reminds you to take a breather before you do something that you shouldn’t.  A good breathing exercise will chase away.

In Brené Brown’s Book – Dare to Lead, she teaches a technique called box breathing:

  1. Inhale deeply through your nose, expanding your stomach, for a count of four.
  2. Hold in that breath for a count of four.
  3. Slowly exhale all the air through your mouth, contracting your stomach, for a count of four.
  4. Hold the empty breath for a count of four.

We don’t pause enough and check our body. I’m a breath holder, and sometimes, when things get really hectic and I’m in firefighting mode at the office, I just stop and trace a square on my desk: In for four, hold for four, out for four, hold for four. 6. Use Music to Raise Your Vibration

Turn up the tunes and jam out for a bit.  Music is the key to the soul.  An uplifting song can raise your vibration just as a sad, sad song can lower your vibration.

Lift your mood with the right tune and put yourself in the right vibration for the Universe to deliver.

7. Drink Plenty of Water and Eat Healthy Raw Foods

Yep, we’re are getting food and water out of the way. 

Pay attention to your body.  Consume foods and beverages that make your body feel fantastic.  A fantastic body is a healthy mind, spirit, and vibration.

Drinking water seems like an obvious one as water is essential for life, but sometimes we must state the obvious.  (I always struggle with drinking water!)

Increasing your water intake is the most natural way to increase your vibration. 

A well-hydrated body is a happy body. 

8. Release the Stories You Tell Yourself

We can all get caught up in the past.  Now is the time to let go.  It is time to heal your past limiting beliefs and celebrate in the wonders of the universe.

Be observant of your convictions and ask yourself what the source truly is.

When that well-known debilitating panic attack starts to consume you, ask yourself why?  Are the feelings and emotions that are overcoming you a result of your beliefs or the beliefs passed on to you from your childhood.

Remember the television is a tricky household device.  It is a mind-numbing electronic that can draw you in and make you lose hours of your life.

12. Journey into Nature

Nature is the perfect place to let the chaos of the day-to-day go. Take a day and get away from it all and breathe in the fresh air, walk in a stream, or just sit on a picnic bench a ponder.

13. Surround Yourself with Positive People

 “You’re the average of the five people spend the most time with” is some pretty sound advice often attributed to the motivational speaker Jim Rohn.  The thing is, science has proven this to be grossly understated.

From 1983 to 2003, 4,739 participants were reviewed to see if happiness is contagious.  The conclusion was a resounding yes.  The study showed that happiness flows throughout three degrees of separation:

Emotional states can be transferred directly from one individual to another by mimicry and “emotional contagion,” perhaps by the copying of emotionally relevant bodily actions, particularly facial expressions, seen in others. 14. Focus on Healing

Accepting that our past impacts, our present is a bit intimidating.

As a woman in my 40s, I totally thought I had overcome my childhood fears and challenges.  Then I went through a life-changing experience where I met my biological parents for the first time in 2017.

The experience of meeting strangers that physically resembled me was an experience that life just could not prepare me.

The sorrow I found was devastating.  Two people that lived extremely rough lives following giving up their baby that was a result of teenage pregnancy.

This process was full of tons of soul searching, which woke me up to the realization that the survival skills I learned as a child growing up in a home impacted by substance abuse carried into my adult life.

Be open to experiences that will allow you to heal.  To finally let go of the past and allow you to live in the present.

15. Create Something Cool

Tap into your creative side!  Do you love to paint, draw, write, cook, garden, etc?  Get out and do it!  Your God-given talents are the tools in your high-vibration toolbox.

Create something with your hands, your mind, your voice that elevates your spirits and increases your vibe and all those who come in contact with your creation.

Beauty is everywhere!

Open your eyes and open your heart and take it all in.  Cherish the little things.

Take a moment of your day and give the unexpected to someone you do not know.  You will be surprised by the rush of good-vibes that will come out of this experience.

It is the sure way to give the gift that keeps giving!

19. Take a Bath

Break out the Epson salt and soak up the healing powers. 

According to healthline.com, Epson salts are a home treatment for:

  • Insomnia
  • Red and itchy skin
  • Sore muscles
  • Swollen feet
  • Sprains
  • Aching arthritis

When your body is in pain, you will naturally emit a low vibration.  Take care of yourself and chase any aches and pains away.

20. Cuddle Your Pet

Cuddling is such an act of healing.  Grab your furry friend and squeeze!

[I know that hugging our furbaby Kunu makes me feel like a million dollars, although he is not always such a fan!]

In a research study performed by the Heart Math Institute, the connection that we feel with our pet surpasses a simple emotion.  The bond that we have with our pets can actually shift the rhythm of the heart to meet our emotions.

Let go of the past.  Stop worrying about the future.  Enjoy the moment.  Right now is all you have!  Make the most of it.

23. Consume Elevating Content

Mindless and meaningless information is everywhere.  From social media to the news, it is easy to consume garbage daily.

Be aware.  Be engaged.  Be observant of what you are consuming.  Do not waste another moment on autopilot, just allowing life to pass you up.

We are designed to learn.  So learn.  Challenge the mind and your body to do more, to be more.  Your vibration is naturally higher when you are expanding your mind.

24. Practice Yoga

Yoga helps heal the mind, the body, and the soul.  Yoga is a perfect way to keep your body flowing freely and raises your energy to a blissful state.

So roll out your mat.  Inhale deeply and get in touch with your body. 

Yoga is a sure-fire way to start your day off right or end your day on a positive note.

25.  Write Out Your Dreams

Take a moment and write out your dreams.  Take a pen to paper and lay it all out. 

Where do you want to be…

  • Six Months from Now?
  • A Year from Now?
  • Five years?

These are your dreams.  Let them flow.  You don’t have to worry about sharing them with others.  Your only goal is to be specific.  Visualize where you are heading.  Get excited!  Allow yourself to know that you can do it!

Ready to design your life?  Creating a vision board is a great way to keep your eye on the prize.  A vision board, or dream board, is a valuable visualization tool that keeps your dreams in the forefront of your mind.

So what is a vision board?  It is simply a collage of words and pictures that visually and emotionally represent where you want to be in life.

27. Do Not Gossip

Gossip destroys!  It is one of the actions that in the moment it appears as if the gossiper has the upper hand.  But stand back and be an observer of the gossiper, and you will see how the negativity flowing from the individual is tearing them down.

When you gossip you sacrifice part of yourself.  Part of your good energy.  Stop the gossiping and raise your vibration!

28. Sober Up and Stop the Smoking

Rob and I smoke off and on for over 25 years.  If smoking is something that you struggle with, maybe now is the time to stop.

Once you remove the toxins of smoking and alcohol from your life, you suddenly realize how bright the world is.  Walks are invigorating, and breaks from work are relaxing.

If you have a bad habit holding you back, now is a great time to evaluate and take control to raise your vibe!

Get ready and embrace some positive affirmations that lift your spirits.  Positive affirmations are a great way to self-talk your way to the required energy to move forward with your high vibe self.

38. Meditate

Meditation is one of those things that I struggle with but have high hopes that I will once day figure it out.

There have been moments that I have met that bliss state head-on in my attempts to meditate, but so far, it is kind of hit and miss.

When it is a hit, it is magnificent.

39. Act

Time flys!  Don’t sit on the sidelines.  If the mood hits, then you better act!  When you get that feeling in your gut that you need to do something, you better do it.

No hesitation!

A few weeks back I received a phone call from a hospital from my hometown.  It was a nurse call to let me know that my dad had a mini-heart attack, and they were sending him to Phoenix for minor surgery.

Although I knew all I had to do was call Rob and he would get off work immediately to be with me, I opted to leave right away.

Within ten minutes of my sister and me getting to the hospital, they place my dad on a ventilator.  He passed away two days later.

If I did not act immediately, I would not have been able to speak to my dad one last time.

If you feel like you need to do something – – – do it!  No hesitation – jump!

40. Accept Responsibility

Remember, you are the only one that can control how you respond to a situation.  Decide that you are not a victim of your surroundings.  You are in control of you!

When you struggle with a coworker or a family member, remind yourself that they do not make you feel a particular way.  You decide how you will feel and respond.

Accept responsibility for the things that you can change and let go of the rest!

41. Express Love to Those Around You

Don’t forget to show those around you how much you love them.  Remember, it is your actions that show a person that you care about them.

Share your talents!  You have knowledge and skills that you must share with others.  When you teach others, your knowledge grows, and you add value to someone else’s life.

Your ability to adapt to life’s ups and downs will allow you to maintain your high-vibe.  When you focus on the problem and not the solution, you will find your vibration flowing with the ups and downs.

Neutralize the problems by being a solution seeker!

Expand your mind.  Continue to challenge yourself.  Continue to learn new skills.  Take your passion and go for it.

You will end up creating such a wonderful life you will draw other, like-minded individuals to you.  Seek knowledge and find your tribe!

Life is full of challenges!  Rise to the occasion.  Commit to yourself that once you formulate a plan, you have your dream list and vision board created, keep your eye on the prize.

Decide that you are going to live your best life and do it!  Remember, the only way that you truly fail is when you quit.

Aim to inspire is not the same as aim to impress. 

When you aim to inspire, you develop an internal accountability process you focus on being the best version of yourself.

When you are acting as the best version of you, your vibration is high!

50. Allow Negative Emotions

Don’t fight yourself.  Negativity is going to arise; don’t beat yourself up over it.  Allow the feelings to flow through you and let then let go. The more you fight it, the longer the feelings will last.  Acknowledge that you are struggling and allow it to work its course.

Know that it is easy to get upset with yourself when your primary focus is to live with a high vibration but know that it is just part of life.  Highs and lows.
