12 Spiritual Laws of The Universe…What is this all about?

When I first learned of the Law of Attraction, my first thought was, “what a far-reaching fairytale.”  What is wrong with people these days?  What a lazy society.  People are running around believing in such fanciful things like manifesting desires rather than just getting out there and working their butts off for the things they want.

Then I realized that the Law of Attraction and hard work go hand in hand.

It was that simple aha that led me to wonder…how many other universal spiritual laws are out there that will help guide me through my day-to-day?  How many laws out there will help me keep my head clear and my heart strong?

Like life, the answer is not black and white!  When doing a simple Google search for the Laws of the Universe, the results were a bit overwhelming!  Overwhelming to the point of asking myself what is the validity of all these wonky laws.

But once I was able to step back and sort through my thoughts, I realized that the Laws of the Universe are just as dynamic as we are.   Like any religion or spiritual following, the laws are just as diverse.

To simplify things, we will explore and summarize 12 Universal Laws that appear to be the most recognized.

So what are the 12 spiritual laws of the universe?

Below is the list of the most highly recognized Spiritual Laws of the Universe.  Although all the spiritual gurus out there may not agree that these are “the ones,” they appear to be the most common.

It appears that the 12 spiritual laws do not come from just one source, but more of a compilation of ideas and philosophies that will help you be the best version of you!  Each law stacks on top of one another to help you to manifest the life you seek.

These laws all work in harmony and help guide us all to the peace and happiness we all see.

The 12 laws all play well with one another and serve as the perfect accompaniment to the law we all know and love:  Law of Attraction.

So if you are ready to boost your manifesting skills, let’s get started with the 12 most common spiritual laws…

The Law of Divine Oneness – We are all connected

The Law of Divine Oneness is the acknowledgment that we are all a creation of a higher power.  It is the knowledge that our shared source connects every one of us to everything in our universe.

It is the belief that we are a ripple in the pond that impacts all those around us.  Our thoughts, our choice of words, our desires and dreams, and our actions all have an impact on someone else’s life.

The Law of Divine Oneness extends beyond human interaction and reaches out to all of nature’s creations.  This law is extremely powerful as it is a reminder that we have a place in our universe, and we can add or subtract from the beauty in our world with just one thought.

The Law of Vibration – Every Particle in the Universe is in Constant Motion

Source:  The Kybalion: Hermetic Philosophy (7 Hermetic Principles)

Nothing rests; Everything moves; Everything vibrates. – The Kybalion

The Law of Vibration is the one 12 Sprititual Universal Laws that I initially struggled with the most.  For some reason, it just felt so hokey.

I first struggled with the idea of vibrating.  Then it dawned on me that we are all in constant motion.  Whether awake or asleep, our heartbeats, our blood pumps.  We are always in motion.

Then I allowed myself to expand my mind to think of how this vibration impacts me and my life.  It was that realization that when I am scared, my heart beats faster.  When I listen to certain music, I cannot help but shake my butt.

The Law of Vibration is that aha empowering idea that made me realize that this vibration thing is no more than the natural response of my heart, mind, and body to my thoughts, feelings, and actions.

The Law of Correspondence – Our Reality Reflects What We Think and Feel

Source:  The Kybalion: Hermetic Philosophy (7 Hermetic Principles)

The Law of Correspondence is a simple truth that you are what you think you are.  The world that you live in is a creation of your thoughts and how you see the world.

If you want to see improvement and progression in your life, you have to heal yourself first.

It is the realization that you cannot fix things on the outside until you fix your insides.  You know, inside your mind, your heart, your body, and your soul.

Everything is connected, and beauty cannot come to you until you feel beautiful!  So put your crazy on and feel beautiful.  Laugh!

The Law of Attraction – Like Attracts Like

Source:  The phrase ‘Law of Attraction’ first appeared in a book by Helena Blavatsky

The Law of Attraction can get a bad wrap from the workaholics out there, and after watching parts of the movie The Secret, I can see why.  The Secret highlights the materialistic side of this powerful law and in my opinion, misses the key points that make it awesome!

You see, I am a workaholic that had to overcome the woo-hoo-ery that was laid out in this movie.

The Law of Attraction is in no way a law that says to sit back and wish really, really hard, and all your dreams will come true.

The Law of Attraction is simply “like attracts like.”  So if you focus and work really, really, hard for the things you desire, really, really cool shit will come your way!  The Law of Attraction is that tool you need to build the magical life you want!

The Law of Inspired to Act – Do It Now

Todd M. Thrash and Andrew J. Elliot from the University of Rochester conducted a study in 2003 that clearly identifies inspiration as doing something for some unknown reason with a sense of urgency that exceeds the limitations that we set for ourselves.

inspiration is evoked rather than initiated directly through an act of will or arising without apparent cause; and inspiration involves transcendence of the ordinary preoccupations or limitations of human agency.  Inspiration as a Psychological Construct. Journal of personality and social psychology.

So when inspiration hits, don’t fight it.  Break down the barriers that you have established for yourself and get out there and freaking do what you feel prompted to do.

The heights of human motivation spring from the beauty and goodness that precede us and awaken us to better possibilities. – Thrash, Todd & Elliot, Andrew

The Law of Perpetual Transmutation of Energy – Energy Flows Continuously

In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread
Till you return to the ground,
For out of it you were taken;
For dust you are,
And to dust, you shall return.

Genesis 3:19, New King James Version

The Law of Perpetual Transmutation of Energy states that energy is ever-changing, ever-evolving.  It is the belief that life continues to flow from one form to another.

When it comes to manifesting your heart’s desires, The Law of Perpetual Transmutation of Energy is the force that turns thoughts into things.

Sound wonky, but just hear me out because this logic is super sound.

  • The chair that you a sitting on came to life because someone thought of making it.
  • The electricity that powers your life is all based on the thoughts and dreams put into action by Thomas Edison and Nicola Tesla.
  • The car that you drive exists all because someone had an idea and moved on it.

You see, at the core, the Spiritual Laws of the Universe are not as woo-hoo based as you might have once thought.

The Law of Cause and Effect – You Impact the World By Causing Positive Or Negative Reactions

Source:  The Kybalion: Hermetic Philosophy (7 Hermetic Principles)

In a recent Reiki session, my Reiki Master told me about a Native American belief that each and every one of us can heal seven generations forward and seven generations backward.  This idea came to me at exactly the right time.

You see, my dad had just passed.  His loss had my mind running through all the what-ifs.  You know, the nagging “if only I could have been better.  If I were better, he would have overcome his addiction to drugs and alcohol.”

The logical side of me understands that his illness was his, and I did not possess the ability to heal him if he did not want to be healed.  I also realize that I did not have the power to make him choose a different life.  His life was his.  His choices were his, and those choices were not a reflection of me or his love for me.

The Law of Cause and Effect is the law of common sense that all actions have an outcome – – – both good and bad.

If we break the chain of addiction, violence, or other inherited, limiting beliefs, our children and their children and those who follow them are given access to possibilities not available to the ancestors. And thus, the entire lineage evolves.  By Dr. Judith Rich, Contributor

The Law of Compensation – You Get What You Give

Source:  The Kybalion: Hermetic Philosophy (7 Hermetic Principles)

The Law of Compensation extends beyond monetary gain.  This law embraces The Golden Rule:  Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

The Law of Compensation is the subtle reminder to all of us to treat others with respect, kindness, forgiveness, and love.  If you seek these things, be sure to send them out to the Universe, and the Universe will send them back to you.

The Law of Relativity – Comparing Determines What You View As good or bad

The Spiritual Law of Relativity addresses the importance or relevance that we place on things, peoples, and experiences in our lives.  It is the law that highlights our appreciation and value that we comparison in our life.

It is the act of comparision that determines our baseline for success or failure, good or bad, happy or sad.  The life lesson for The Spiritual Law of Relativity is just to enjoy being.   Resist the temptation to grade your worth or happiness what you perceive as success or failure.

Remember:  The grass is not always greener on the other side.

In form, you are and will always be inferior to some, superior to others. In essence, you are neither inferior nor superior to anyone. True self-esteem and true humility arise out of that realization. In the eyes of the ego, self-esteem and humility are contradictory. In truth, they are one and the same. – Eckhart Tolle, A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose

The Law of Polarity – There is an opposite to everything

Source:  The Kybalion: Hermetic Philosophy (7 Hermetic Principles)

The Law of Polarity teaches us that in all things lessons are gained; we grow.  It is the challenging times that allows us to appreciate the times of ease.  It is the moments of sadness that make the times of happiness fulfilling.

Every adversity, every failure, and every heartache carries with it the seed of an equivalent or greater benefit. – Napoleon  Hill, Think and Grow Rich

If we do not experience heartache or adversity, how can we truly appreciate genuine love or know what success is all about?

Life is not perfect, but it is often in the imperfect times of our lives when we find perfection.

The Law of Rhythm – Life is Constant Motion

Source:  The Kybalion: Hermetic Philosophy (7 Hermetic Principles)

Life is ever-changing; nothing in life stands still for long.  The Law of Rhythm is the nudge to enjoy the now.  Enjoy the highs and the lows as they are both just moments in your lifecycle.

Everything is in constant motion.  Enjoy the ride!

The Law of Gender – Masculine or Feminine Energy

Source:  The Kybalion: Hermetic Philosophy (7 Hermetic Principles)

Gender is in everything; everything has its Masculine and Feminine Principles; Gender manifests on all planes. – The Kybalion

The Law of Gender is the law of balance.

It is…

  • Yin – Yang
  • Right brain – Left Brain
  • Up – Down
  • Male – Female

The Law of Gender is not determined by the sex of an individual, but the reasoning that success comes from balance.  In the book The Kybalion: The Seven Hermetic Principles, the law of gender is defined as:

It is said that there must be a balance in these two forces. Without the Feminine, the Masculine is apt to act without restraint, order, or reason, resulting in chaos. The Feminine alone, on the other hand, is apt to constantly reflect and fail to actually do anything, resulting in stagnation. With both the Masculine and Feminine working in conjunction, there is thoughtful action that breeds success, which points out that both the Feminine and the Masculine fulfill each other.
